Creating a Safe Space

The Faith and Belief Forum, formerly the Three Faiths Forum, works towards building good relations between people of all faiths and beliefs. They work towards a connected and supportive society where people of different faiths, beliefs and cultures have strong, productive and lasting relations.

The Safe Space animation was created in 2018 to explain a set of principles designed to help groups and facilitators
explore conversations around faith, belief and identity, in a safe and respectful way. We were then invited to make two more films in 2019 and 2020 with a focus on Identity and Controversial Issues.

The Faith and Belief forum have now launched an extensive range of online resources to complement these films for KS3 RE and PSHE teachers. Detailed lesson plans with presentations and worksheets aimed at years 7, 8 and 9, aim to equip learners with tools for safe and meaningful dialogue.

Working with Isolde and Jess was a real pleasure. They managed to translate our abstract dialogue methodologies into tangible storylines and visuals with useful direction for relating to our target audience. They were always responsive, as well as being flexible and patient when we changed our minds about content! They ensured a smooth and accessible process, including for those of us with little experience of film production
