Influencing Change in Informal Political Spaces

Kaleidoscope Trust: Influencing Change in Informal Political Spaces

Formal political spaces, such as parliamentary and ministerial settings, have long been used by civil society and other change-makers as the default stage for their advocacy efforts. However, in recent years, the importance of informal political spaces has increased considerably, turning them into vital platforms that have proven critical in enabling these groups to advance the rights of women, girls and LGBT+ people.

Kaleidoscope Trust and the Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD) hosted an online event and brought together civil society alongside non-traditional political change-makers from across the Commonwealth, to help us better understand the role that informal political spaces, and those operating within their boundaries, can play in creating change for women, girls and LBGT+ people.

It was a privilege to have been invited to join this session, which took place on 23rd March 2021 to capture the speakers and discussions.
