Supporting partners and family members in specialist perinatal mental health services

We made this animation for NHS England and NHS Improvement to complement the good practice guide (https://www.england.nhs.uk/mental-hea...) on involving and supporting partners and other family members in specialist perinatal mental health services.

It is aimed at healthcare professionals and can be used to support the delivery of training to provide:

  • women and their families with a positive experience of care, with services joined up around them.

  • care that involves and supports partners and families in ways that can improve outcomes for all family members.

The animation was developed in collaboration with the amazing Perinatal Mental Health Families Team: Zoe Darwin (University of Leeds), Jill Domoney (King’s College London), Jane Iles (University of Surrey), Florence Bristow (South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust) and Vaheshta Sethna (King’s College London). With thanks to Mark Williams and Jenny McLeish.

The Woven Ink team were absolutely fantastic from start to finish, bringing so much thoughtfulness, creativity and passion in transforming our ideas into a wonderful visual story. Jess, Isolde and Blanche helped us to break our story down into a simple narrative, supporting the script-writing process, and talking us through each stage involved in bringing the project to life. The illustrations were developed in close collaboration with us, with the Woven Ink team using their incredible talents to tell our story in a beautiful sensitive way. The Woven Ink team’s enthusiasm and support throughout made the project a real joy, and we wouldn’t hesitate to work with them again!
